Mizoram, April 25: <\/strong>In more successes in the crusade against smuggling activities, joint operations by personnel of the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles \u2014 under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) \u2014 and the Customs Preventive Force as well as the Excise & Narcotics Department of Champhai district led to the recovery of areca nuts and also heroin worth crores in Mizoram. Both the operations were carried out based on specific information.<\/p>\n

On April 24, a joint operation recovered 380 bags of areca nuts from the general area of Mualkawi Road in Champhai. The approximate market value of the recovered areca nuts is Rs 96, 67,200. The Customs department seized the contraband items.<\/p>\n

Personnel of the Serchhip Battalion along with the Excise & Narcotics Department<\/a> <\/span>seized 987.8 grams of heroin (No-4) from the\u00a0general area of Zote Kai Champhai on April 23.<\/p>\n
