Kolkata, April 29: <\/strong>West Bengal Health Secretary wrote to the Director-General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Kolkata to maintain law and order at COVID-19 vaccination centers.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The notice said \u201cthe recent surge in COVID cases has also ignited demand for vaccination. Although the inclination of the large number of people to get themselves vaccinated is an encouraging development, it will take some time to reach a stage when supply can match step with demand.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the view of the crowd increasing every day in the center, the government said \u201cthe crowds at the vaccination centers are bulging every day and the peaceful ambiance is turning tense. Even untoward incidents began to be reported from Kolkata and from the districts as well.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The notice added, \u201cUnder the circumstances, I solicit the intervention of your good offices to pass suitable instructions to your field officers. This department is also advising KMC and DMs\/CMOHs to liaison with their police counterparts in this regard.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Covid-19 cases continued to rise in West Bengal on Wednesday with the state reporting 17,207 new cases and 77 deaths. According to the state health bulletin, 22 of the 77 deaths occurred in Kolkata, which also registered 3,821 new cases.
