{"id":11045,"date":"2021-05-03T12:27:35","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T06:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=11045"},"modified":"2021-05-03T18:25:18","modified_gmt":"2021-05-03T12:55:18","slug":"sikkim-govt-sets-up-new-covid-19-care-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/sikkim-govt-sets-up-new-covid-19-care-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"Sikkim govt sets up new COVID care centres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Sikkim, May 3:<\/strong> Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Golay made a visit to the three designated COVID care centres to take stock of the state\u2019s preparedness in containing the second wave of the novel coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Golay began his tour from Paljor Stadium, followed by a visit to the two designated floors for COVID-19 treatment at <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/sikkim.gov.in\/DepartmentsMenu\/health-family-welfare-department\/States%20Initiatives%20and%20other%20wings\/sikkim-government-college-of-nursing\">STNM Hospital<\/a><\/span> in Gangtok. Later, he went to Khelgaon in Reshithang and finally to Saramsa Garden, all of which are going to be dedicated COVID-19 care centres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While a 30-bedded COVID-19 care centre has been set up on a three-story sports department building in Khelgaon, an 80-bedded facility is in place at Saramsa Garden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Paljor Stadium, the gymnasium hall has room for more expansion and was kept with floating numbers in case of a crisis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking with the media, Golay asserted that STNM Hospital has 120 beds and 120 private cabins, besides dedicated the 8th and 9th floors for COVID-19 care. \u201c<strong>We have around 300 beds in STNM Hospital. 100 in CRH, along with the district hospitals<\/strong>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/sikkim-govt-sets-up-new-covid-19-care-centres\/image-54-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11047\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11047\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nerising.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=696%2C522&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sikkim govt sets up new COVID care centres\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=696%2C522&amp;ssl=1 696w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=560%2C420&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=80%2C60&amp;ssl=1 80w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/northeastrising.in\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-54.jpg?resize=265%2C198&amp;ssl=1 265w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commenting on the COVID care centres, the CM said: \u201c<strong>Paljor Stadium in Sikkim was used as COVID care centres earlier too. We are also using Khelgaon in Reshithang, while a devoted COVID-19 care centre will be set up in Saramsa Garden for women. There are only around 100 admitted patients in STNM Hospital. There are still 200 beds available<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Also Read<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/sikkim-government-extends-closure-of-offices-for-another-10-days-to-break-the-chain\/\">Sikkim government extends closure of offices for another 10 days to break the chain<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Golay urged the public not to create a panic situation and requested the asymptomatic COVID-19 patients not to get admitted to hospitals. \u201c<strong>Asymptomatic patients must be quarantined at home. Doctors will monitor and look after their wellbeing. But if they face breathing concerns or if their oxygen levels drop, they can be admitted<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the state government is providing beds and mattresses at the COVID-19 care centres, patients need to only bring their pillows, bedsheets, and blankets, Golay said, adding that food will be ensured by the centres along with medicines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/sikkim-govt-sets-up-new-covid-19-care-centres\/image-53-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11046\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11046\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nerising.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-53-e1620039442549.jpg?resize=692%2C519&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sikkim govt sets up new COVID care centres\" width=\"692\" height=\"519\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On concerns of lockdown with the rising number of cases, Golay said, \u201c<strong>There is no lockdown being considered. The cases are rising but to break the chain, government offices have been shut till May 7, along with weekend lockdown of commercial spaces<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The state has enough Remedesivir injections, oxygen supply and manpower, he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<strong>Last year, due to lockdown and various COVID-19 protocols, vehicles maintained social distancing with 50% occupancy. They faced a lot of losses. There is no situation like that yet<\/strong>,\u201d he said, adding: \u201c<strong>Self-awareness and wearing masks are the best way to counter.
