Weather, May 6:<\/strong> Parts of the Sikkim, Arunachal and east India are set to receive a fresh spell of rains this week. This is due to the presence of an anti-cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and it is expected to bring humidity to east and northeast India.<\/p>\n

Moreover, another cyclonic circulation<\/a><\/span> is likely to persist around Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in this period. Fairly widespread to widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over northeast India and Gangetic West Bengal for the next five days. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over east India in this period.<\/p>\n

Heavy rain is likely over isolated places of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya in this period and over isolated places of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Some places of Sikkim may witness similar conditions from Friday to Sunday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, down south, a trough and cyclonic circulation are likely to persist over the region in this period. Easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal could bring humidity over south India in this period. Therefore, fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Kerala and coastal Karnataka for the next five days.<\/p>\n

Scattered to fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are predicted over south interior Karnataka in this forecast period. Isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over other areas of south India and adjoining area. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places of Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, a western disturbance is over Afghanistan on Wednesday and is forecast to affect north India in this period. This system is likely to bring widespread rain or snow and thunderstorms over Uttarakhand on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Heavy rain is expected over isolated places of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Scattered to fairly widespread rain or snow and thunderstorms are possible over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh from Wednesday to Friday.<\/p>\n

In the northwest, isolated rain and thunderstorms are likely over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi in this period.<\/p>\n

Heatwave conditions are unlikely across India for the next five days.<\/p>\n

In terms of temperatures, the maximums are below normal over east India, central India, plain areas of north India and south India in this period. Maximum temperatures are warmer or near normal over the Western Himalayan Region in this period.<\/p>\n
