Assam, May 16:<\/strong> Owing to the ongoing pandemic, the Assam state government has decided that this academic year, students who will be appearing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC)\/ Assam High Madrassa (AHM) and Higher Secondary (HS) final exams can appear in three papers only.<\/p>\n

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu speaking to the media said, “The students who are appearing for metric or the higher secondary exams this year can appear in three subjects only<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Further, the minister said that in this regard a discussion has been going with the Board of Secondary Education Assam<\/a><\/span> (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and a proposal have already been submitted.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the schedule of the exams the minister stated that the decision will be taken by the Assam Health and Family Welfare Department and within 15 days from the permission, the state government would be able to conduct the exams.<\/p>\n

It is to be mentioned here that in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams students have to appear for six subjects and for Higher Secondary (HS) exams in all the streams- Arts, Science and Commerce, students have to appear for five subjects.<\/p>\n

Henceforth this year students who will be appearing for the HSLC and HS can choose three subjects only and have to clear in all of them.<\/p>\n

“We urge all the students to be prepared for the exams and the exams will be conducted as soon as we get a green signal from the govt<\/strong>,” the minister added.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) and also the AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) have postponed the HSLC\/AHM (High School Leaving Certificate) examination-2021\/Assam High Madrassa examination)-2021 and the HS (Higher Secondary) final examination-2021 due to the massive rise in COVID-19 cases. The HSLC\/AHM (High School Leaving Certificate) examinations were scheduled to commence on May 11.<\/p>\n

Altogether 4,26,508 candidates are registered for this year’s HSLC examination while 12,275 candidates are slated to appear in the AHM examination-2021.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, a total of 2,49,812 candidates are registered for the HS final examination-2021. Of them, a total of 1,91,860 candidates are in the Arts stream; 38,431 in the Science stream; 18,440 in the Commerce stream; and 1,081 candidates have been registered in the Vocational stream.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
