Mizoram, May 22:<\/strong> The Mizoram government on Saturday extends “total lockdown” till 4 AM of May 31st<\/sup>\u00a0May.<\/p>\n

The government issued an order which says \u201cGiven the continued surge of COVID- 19 positive cases, the competent authority has decided to continue with the current restrictions imposed for curtailing people’s movement and activities, to further mitigate the probable serious impact on public health<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, the undersigned in his capacity as Chairman, State Executive Committee, and in the exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22(21(hl &, 24(l) of the Disaster Management Act, 2OOS hereby orders that the guidelines appended hereto shall be strictly implemented with the effect from 4:00 AM of 24.05.202I till 4:00 AM of 31.05 .2021<\/strong>,\u201d the order added.<\/p>\n

Earlier on 7th<\/sup> May, The Mizoram government announced a 7-day “total lockdown<\/strong>” commencing from 4 AM of May 10 to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state. The “total lockdown<\/strong>” will remain in force till 4 AM of May 17 and no resident of the capital and district headquarter towns will be allowed to come out of their homes.<\/p>\n

As per the notice issued on 7th<\/sup>\u00a0May, shops dealing with essential commodities, vegetables and meats will be opened only on Thursday till 5 pm in these towns. Aizawl and district headquarters are currently in lockdown mode.<\/p>\n

Night curfew will also be continued in the state capital and district headquarters\/towns between 7 pm and 4 am.<\/p>\n

Government offices and commercial banks will also be allowed to open under strict Covid-19 protocols outside the jurisdiction of the\u00a0state capital and other district headquarters.<\/p>\n

Hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, dispensaries, bank and non-banking financial institutions, post offices, filling stations, LPG storehouses, fair price shop, animal feed store are exempted from total lockdown.<\/p>\n

State residents or visitors should enter the state only through those entry points currently opened by the state government and they will have to undergo mandatory home isolation for 10 days if they tested negative for Covid-19 upon their arrival.<\/p>\n

Quarantine is not mandatory for people visiting the state for a short duration (lesser than 96 hours) provided they possess COVID negative certificates from ICMR recognized RT-PCR or Truenat or CBNAT labs and tested negative for Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test upon their arrival.<\/p>\n

The Covid-19 negative certificate should not be older than 72 hours. According to the order, intra-state or inter-village movement is strictly prohibited except under exceptional or very essential cases.<\/p>\n

Mizoram\u2018s COVID-19 count crossed the 10,000 marks on Saturday as 292 people, including 54 children, tested positive for the novel coronavirus, an official said.<\/p>\n

As many as 148 new cases were confirmed at Zoram Medical College\u2019s RT-PCR laboratory from two districts, three cases at TrueNat facilities from three districts and 141 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test from various districts, he said.<\/p>\n

Of the 292 fresh cases, Aizawl district registered the highest at 240, followed by Serchhip district, which reported 21 cases, he said.<\/p>\n

The remaining cases were reported from Kolasib, Champhai, Siaha, Mamit, Saitual, Lunglei, and Khawzawl districts.<\/p>\n

At least 4,388 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of which 6.65 per cent came out as positive for Covid-19. Eleven patients have travel history, while the rest were found to have locally contracted the virus.<\/p>\n

Of the 292 patients, 119 have developed symptoms of Covid-19. The total Covid-19 cases now stand at 10,024 of which 2,473 are active. Up to 7,521 people have recovered from the infection. At least 30 people have succumbed to the infection so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
