Yaas, May 24:<\/strong> West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that Bengal has been discriminated by the Central Government in the promise of help given to the affected states to deal with the cyclone Yaas.<\/p>\n

Mamta said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has promised to give Rs 600 crore in advance for relief work to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, but Bengal will be given only Rs 400 crore.<\/p>\n

Mamta has given details of preparations made in the state, calling it discrimination.\u00a04000 cyclone shelters are ready, 10 lakh people will be evacuated.\u00a051 disaster management teams, 1000 electricity and 400 mobile network restoration teams have been formed.\u00a020 districts will be greatly affected.<\/p>\n

The depression over the Bay of Bengal is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday (May 24) morning and further into a very severe cyclonic storm during the subsequent 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department`s National Weather Forecasting Centre said.<\/p>\n

According to IMD\u2019s<\/a><\/span> National Weather Forecasting Centre, it lay centred at 8:30 am on Monday over the east-central Bay of Bengal, about 620km north-northwest of Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, 530km south-southeast of Paradip in Odisha, 630km south-southeast of Odisha\u2019s Balasore and 620 km south-southeast of Digha in West Bengal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very likely to move north-north-westwards, intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours and into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 24 hours. It would continue to move north-north-westwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coasts by 26th May early morning.
