Assam, May 31:<\/strong> A woman was allegedly raped by two men while returning from a hospital. The incident took place in the Charaideo district of Assam. The woman and her daughter had gone for Covid-19 testing, and after they tested negative, they were denied an ambulance to return home.<\/p>\n

On the way home, both the accused allegedly kidnapped the woman took her to a nearby tea garden and raped her, reported in Assam.<\/p>\n

The daughter of the survivor said their entire family tested positive for the virus and had to be admitted to the hospital. After testing negative, they were denied by the ambulance to return home.<\/p>\n

When they asked if they could spend the night at the hospital but that too was not accepted. So in the end they were forced to cover the distance of 25km at the night.<\/p>\n

“When we tested negative, the hospital authority asked us to go home. We asked for an ambulance, but they denied it. We were discharged from the hospital at 2.30 pm. We asked them if we can stay the night in hospital since there was Covid curfew, but the hospital authorities said no<\/strong>,” the daughter told media.<\/p>\n

“We started walking. Later, two men chased us. We ran but they caught my mother and took her away. I managed to run and informed villagers. After two hours my mother was found<\/strong>,” she said.<\/p>\n

Charaideo senior police officer Sudhakar Singh said the probe is on and the medical test report of the woman is awaited.<\/p>\n

Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said ambulances should be provided to Covid-negative patients for returning home.<\/p>\n

The Assam Tea Tribe Students’ Association<\/a><\/span> has held the hospital authorities responsible for the matter and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
