{"id":1224,"date":"2020-04-25T12:29:03","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T06:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=1224"},"modified":"2020-04-25T12:29:03","modified_gmt":"2020-04-25T06:59:03","slug":"tripura-governor-devanand-konwar-passed-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/tripura-governor-devanand-konwar-passed-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripura Governor Devanand Konwar passed away"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Former Bihar, West Bengal and Tripura governor Devanand Konwar passed away<\/h1>\n<p>Guwahati, April 25: Former Governor of Bihar, West Bengal, Tripura, and veteran politician <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Devanand_Konwar\">Devanand Konwar<\/a> passed away early on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>He was 77 years old.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran politician breathed his last at his residence at Rukminigaon area in Guwahati at around 2-30 am on Saturday after a prolonged illness.<\/p>\n<p>He was served as the Governor of West Bengal from December 14, 2009, to January 23, 2010, and Governor of Bihar from June 29, 2009 to March 21, 2013, and Governor of Tripura from March 25, 2013 to June 29, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>He joined Indian National Congress in 1955 as a student leader and he had been a cabinet minister in the Hiteswar Saikia-led Assam government in 1991 and Tarun Gogoi-led government in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>He had also practiced as a lawyer at the Gauhati High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Assam Chief Minister<a href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/sonowal-distributed-masks-among-tea-garden-workers\/\"> Sarbananda Sonowal<\/a> has expressed grief over the demise of the veteran politician.<\/p>\n<p>Sonowal tweeted \u2013 \u201cSaddened to learn about the demise of former Governor of Bihar, WB &amp; Tripura and former Assam Minister Devananda Konwar. My sincere condolences to bereaved family members and well-wishers.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Saddened to learn about the demise of former Governor of Bihar, WB &amp; Tripura and former Assam Minister Devananda Konwar.
