Imphal, June 9:<\/strong> Security forces had seized a large number of gold biscuits and opium seeds worth Rs 51.80 crore in Manipur.<\/p>\n

Assam Rifles Tengnoupal Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of gold near Tengnoupal.<\/p>\n

\"Security<\/a><\/p>\n

Based on intelligence, Assam Rifles<\/a><\/span> troops launched an operation and intercepted a foreign origin two-wheeler (Kenbo bike) traversing through a jungle trail.<\/p>\n

On being challenged to stop, the two riders abandoned two-wheelers and tried to escape.<\/p>\n

The troops chased the suspects and apprehended one of them. On checking 8.79 kg of gold worth Rs 4.30 crore was seized from the smuggler in Manipur.<\/p>\n

The apprehended smuggler along with the seized gold was handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further legal action.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Assam Rifles troops under the aegis of IGAR (South) busted a major narcotics trafficking racket in Tengnoupal, Manipur on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Based on intelligence inputs, troops of Assam Rifles and Territorial Army launched an operation near the Indo-Myanmar border to intercept a consignment of drugs being brought from across.<\/p>\n

The troops intercepted two modified Shaktiman vehicles plying in the area and recovered nearly 8000 kg of opium seeds worth over Rs 47.50 crore.<\/p>\n

Two smugglers driving the vehicles were apprehended and betel nuts worth Rs 7.20 lakh was also seized from the trucks.<\/p>\n
