Guwahati, June 17:<\/strong> The High School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Class 12) final examination in Assam may get canceled following the Assam cabinet recommendations.<\/p>\n

Assam cabinet on Wednesday has recommended that it would be not possible to conduct the High School Leaving Certificate (Class 10), High Madrasa, and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Class 12) final examinations in the state in view of the prevailing positivity rate of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The state Health Department<\/a> <\/span><\/span>on Wednesday had advised the state government against holding the examinations amid a raging COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Assam Education minister Ranoj Pegu said that the state Health Department has advised the government not to hold the examinations and the entire issue was discussed during the cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the cabinet meeting the state Health Department had given a presentation about the current COVID-19 situation in the state. According to the Health Department, 25000 students aged between 11 years to 18 years have been infected by COVID-19 across the state in May and June and it is 10 percent of the total students of 11-18 years age category. The Health Department said that it is not permissible to hold the examinations,\u201d<\/strong> Ranoj Pegu said.<\/p>\n
