{"id":12722,"date":"2021-06-19T13:55:35","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T08:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=12722"},"modified":"2021-06-19T17:13:52","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T11:43:52","slug":"manipur-rims-doctors-remove-black-fungus-of-a-covid-19-patient","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/manipur-rims-doctors-remove-black-fungus-of-a-covid-19-patient\/","title":{"rendered":"Manipur: RIMS doctors remove black fungus of a COVID-19 patient"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Imphal, June 19: A team of ENT surgeons of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Manipur&#8217;s Imphal had successfully conducted surgery and treated a post-Covid patient who was suffering from black fungus or Mucormycosis.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a press release issued by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rims.edu.in\/secure\/hospital\/\">RIMS\u00a0<\/a> <\/span><\/span>media advisor, N Phillip Singh said that the team of surgeons comprising Prof Th Sudhiranjan, Dr. O Priyokumar, and Dr. N Jiten Singh and an anesthetist team led by Prof L Pradip and Dr. Eshori Longjam conducted the surgery.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>&#8220;The surgery was performed in the nose and paranasal sinuses of the patient. During the surgery, mucormycosis was found to have involved in the right maxillary sinus, ethmoid sinuses, middle and inferior turbinates, posterior part of the nasal septum. Sphenoid sinus was found to be oedematous but clear of gross disease.
