The news has been confirmed by Superintendent Dr Abhijeet Sarma.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sarma further informed that of the deceased, 9 were in ICU and the other three were in the general ward and they lost their lives within 24 hours of admission. He further said that two of the patients died in the emergency ward.<\/p>\n<p>In reply to a tweet by senior journalist Atanu Bhuyan at 12.43 am on Tuesday stating that \u201c<strong>12 Covid19 patients died suddenly at GMCH<\/strong>\u201d, Dr Sarma clarified that the deceased were critical patients and they did not die suddenly.<\/p>\n<p>While sharing a datasheet, Dr Sarma also informed that none of the cases was vaccinated for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>\u2026these patients are not sudden death. They were critical cases 9 in ICU other 3 in the ward who died within 24 hrs of admission. 2 died in an emergency. None of the cases was vaccinated with saturation less than 90% on arrival to GMCH<\/strong>,\u201d Dr Sarma tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>According to the datasheet of 10 patients, shared by the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gmchassam.gov.in\/\">GMCH<\/a><\/span> superintendent, the deceased were aged between 50-85 years<\/p>\n<p>Two of the patients were from Basistha in the Kamrup Metro district.<\/p>\n<p>Another patient from Kamrup Metro, who died of Covid19 infection, was a resident of Jyotikuchi.<\/p>\n<p>The other patients, who lost their lives due to Covid19, were from Goroimari in Sonitpur, Samuguri in Nagaon, Baihata Chariali in Kamrup Rural, Dhuphara in Nagaon, Tamulpur in Baksa, Bhalukdubi in Goalpara and Dubijan in Hojai.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Also Read<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/first-covid-19-case-may-have-emerged-in-china-in-october-2019-says-study\/\">First COVID-19 case may have emerged in China in October 2019, says Study<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Meanwhile, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta made a sudden visit to GMCH last night to understand the COVID situation.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, he enquired whether senior doctors were on Covid duty in the hospital and took stock of the situation in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The health minister expressed dissatisfaction as there were no senior doctors in the hospital at night despite the Chief Minister\u2019s strict instruction to the senior doctors to be available in the hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guwahati, June 29: In an unfortunate incident, 12 COVID patients at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam died in the last 24 hours.
