Lucknow, July 22: <\/strong>A 17-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Devariya district was killed by her grandfather and uncles over wearing jeans in the village. The grandfather and an auto driver, who had helped in disposing of the body, were arrested. The incident was reported from the\u00a0Mauadeeh police station area on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The victim used to stay with her father in Ludhiana<\/a><\/span>. Upon returning to the village, the girl kept wearing jeans, top, and trousers, which were apparently objectionable to her grandfather and uncle.<\/p>\n

Locals said despite several warnings from her relatives, who asked her to wear traditional attire, she did not pay any heed.<\/p>\n

Last Monday, she was warned by her grandfather and uncle when they saw her in jeans. When the 17-year-old wore it again on Thursday, she was brutally beaten up by them.<\/p>\n

Finding her in a critical condition, the duo rushed her to the hospital, but she collapsed on the way to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Panicked by the sudden death of the teenager, the family members also tried to throw the body from the bridge. The body, however, got stuck and remained there till police arrived and took it away for post mortem.<\/p>\n

The maternal uncle of the girl filed an FIR against four people, including the grandfather. Cops have arrested the grandfather and an auto driver, who helped him in throwing the body. The search is on for the others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
