Arunachal, Nov 23:<\/strong> The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU), whose spokesperson is also Arunachal Home Minister, has urged the bandh to be withdrawn on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The minister particularly stated that the Department of Education addressed the 14 demands of the Students Union last October. In the interest of the state and its citizens, Felix asked the ANSU to lift the 12-hour bandh.<\/p>\n

As part of a host of demands, the ANSU called for a 12-hour bandh last week. Following this, the state government requested that they reverse their decision. Among the demands of the union is the withdrawal of FIRs filed against its leaders after an agitation.<\/p>\n

According to Felix, the government covered all of the demands in a report to the ANSU President, who was informed of the action taken on the matter.<\/p>\n

Even though according to the Arunachal home minister, the demands of the union have already been met, so the Bandh was unjustified; according to Felix, the government resolved all issues raised by the students within 40 days as a result of the action report.<\/p>\n

After attempting to enter the civil secretariat in Itanagar, members of the ANSU reportedly clashed with police. The union is said to have wanted to present an internal resolution explaining their 14 points.<\/p>\n

As a result of the clash, the union called a protest bandh and threatened to escalate the agitation if their demands were not met. It has been urged by the home minister that the union should appeal the decision, explaining that it would cause problems and a threat to security in the state.<\/p>\n

Prior to the bandh, the ANSU had initiated the agitation demanding Niharika Rai be transferred immediately and that the FIRs against leaders be withdrawn. Rai, who is currently “performing her duty<\/strong>“, has not been sanctioned despite the minister’s claim that all demands have been met.
