Northeast, Nov 23:<\/strong> Assam forest department reports the construction of a 2-kilometre long road inside their territory by Mizoram according to the latest updates we are getting from northeastern India. There is a clear path built inside the reserved forest, as shown in drone footage from the Assam forest department.<\/p>\n

There have been border clashes between Assam and Mizoram before. There have been border disputes between the two states for nearly two decades.<\/p>\n

However, in recent times there have been violent clashes that have become deeply concerning for the government. Six police officers from Assam were killed in violent clashes in July. There has been no shortage of claims made by Assam that Mizoram has intruded on their state area.<\/p>\n

Following a low-intensity blast, a Mizo security person was arrested, which has rekindled tensions between Assam and Mizoram.<\/p>\n

After an explosion at 1:30 a.m., the police cordoned off the Bhaicherra area near the interstate border in southern Assam’s Hailakandi district recently. He was discovered loitering at the scene by a jawan from the Indian Reserve Battalion in Mizoram identified as Laldintluanga.<\/p>\n

Assam police stopped a controversial bridge project on October 26 after a few people from neighbouring country completed it. After that, trouble brewed on October 26.<\/p>\n

Those from the Hailakandi district said their counterparts in Mizoram have removed construction materials from the disputed spot in an effort to calm tensions.<\/p>\n

Unless the arrested jawan is released, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (students’ association) has threatened to stop vehicles from Assam from crossing the border. Hailakandi locals were encouraged to build structures in disputed territory, according to the union.<\/p>\n

Since October 2020, there have been tensions between Assam and Mizoram. A gunfight broke out between the security forces of the two northeastern states in July, resulting in the deaths of six policemen in Assam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
