Agartala, Jan 01:\u00a0<\/strong>The nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, will visit Tripura on Sunday for a two-day visit to discuss organization-related issues ahead of the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections, said a member of the Trinamool Congress.<\/p>\n

Agartala convener Subal Bhowmik informed that TMC supremo Abhishek Banerjee would also meet with victims of political violence that occurred during last month’s civic elections and that the party’s steering committee members would meet with him in Tripura.<\/p>\n

In a Raj Bhavan Abhiyan on January 5, TMC will press for a 15-point charter that emphasizes issues of concern to the common people, Bhowmik said. Tripura’s districts, sub-divisions, and blocks will also observe TMC’s 24th Foundation Day on Saturday.<\/p>\n

BJP Sweeps Tripura Local Elections<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It emerged victorious in 329 of the 334 seats available, including 217 of the 222 seats it won via voting, and other seats that were won uncontested by default by the BJP in the Tripura civic body elections held on November 25.<\/p>\n

Three seats went to the CPI-M, and one each to the TMC and TIPRA Motha. In response to various applications filed by the TMC and the CPI-M, the Supreme Court of India intervened in the contested election for 13 urban local bodies, requesting that the counting of votes be postponed.<\/p>\n

Data from the state election commission shows the ruling BJP has captured all of the city’s municipal councils, including Agartala Municipal Corporation, Sabroom, Belonia, Melagarh, Sonamura, Amarpur, and Jiranaia Municipal Council. A seat is up for grabs in Ambassa for the TMC, while the CPI-M gains a seat for the CPI-M.<\/p>\n

TIPRA Motha, a new party led by the TTAADC, emerged victorious in Ambassa civic elections. According to the statistics, BJP also won majorities in Khowai and Teliamura civic bodies. A total of 81.54% of the electorate voted in the election on November 25.<\/p>\n

After gaining control of Tripura in 2018, this is the BJP’s first civic election.
