Guwahati, Jan 04:\u00a0<\/strong>The regional committees of Assam and Meghalaya exchanged reports about the vexed border dispute.<\/p>\n

Conrad K Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, said that he had taken part in a comprehensive meeting with Prestone Tynsong, the Deputy Chief Minister, and Assam Minister P Hazarika. An intensive discussion and an exchange of reports were held between the Assam and Meghalaya governments<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Now Assam has received the report from Meghalaya, and the Meghalaya government has received the report from Assam. Sangma said that they went through the reports together again and had an in-depth discussion. “I must say it was a very positive discussion”,<\/strong> added Sangma.<\/p>\n

Sangma continues by saying that they will meet at the chief ministers’ level again and then they will be able to come up with the final outcome and the final decision. He expressed that they would hopefully finalize the decision within a few weeks.<\/p>\n

“I hope will be within the next few weeks, we will be able to meet and finalize on the reports and take a final decision at least for the first phase”,<\/strong> he said<\/p>\n

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Sangma over the border dispute on December 22 last year. The first phase of negotiations over six of the 12 disputed areas between Assam and Meghalaya has begun, Sarma said earlier.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he informed the regional committees of the Kamrup district and West Khasi Hills that they will meet again on Tuesday in Guwahati.<\/p>\n

It is the commitment of both governments to find an amicable solution to the long-standing boundary dispute between the two states that Conrad Sangma expressed.<\/p>\n

However, according to Minister Pijush Hazarika, he went to Shillong under the directives of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The government of Assam then submitted its report and they received the report of the government of Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

“This report will be discussed by our government. Finally, both Chief Ministers will hold a discussion to come up with an amicable solution to the border dispute in Kamrup (metro) and Ri-Bhoi district,”<\/strong> Hazarika said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
