Delhi, Jan 05:\u00a0<\/strong>No paracetamol or pain killers are recommended after being vaccinated with Covaxin, said the vaccine maker Bharat Biotech on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The announcement further said that during clinical trials on 10-20% of the 30,000 individuals had shown side effects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our clinical trials spanning 30,000 individuals, approximately 10-20% of individuals reported side effects. Most of these are mild and resolve within 1-2 days, and do not require medication,”<\/strong> the official statement read.<\/p>\n

Their announcement comes after the vaccine maker was informed that certain vaccine centres had been recommending children three tablets of Paracetamol 500gm after being vaccinated with Covaxin.<\/p>\n

The official statement also said, “Paracetamol was recommended along with certain other Covid-19 vaccines and is not recommended for Covaxin.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The statement asked beneficiaries to consult a physician and only on their recommendation can one administer Paracetamol.<\/p>\n

Hyderabad-based vaccine manufacturer Bharat Biotech on Wednesday got ‘in principle<\/strong>‘ approval from the country’s drug regulator to test nasal COVID-19 vaccine as a booster shot.<\/p>\n

According to reports, India’s drug regulator DCGI on Wednesday granted approval to Bharat Biotech for conducting late-stage trials of its nasal COVID-19 vaccine to be used as a booster shot.<\/p>\n

According to reports, DCGI’s Subject Expert Committee (SEC) has granted ‘in-principle<\/strong> approval to Bharat Biotech for the conduct of ‘Phase III superiority study & Phase III booster dose study’ for its intranasal COVID vaccine.<\/p>\n

The DCGI has also directed the vaccine maker to submit protocols for approval. The Covaxin manufacturer has earlier proposed the booster dose for those who have been already been inoculated against COVID with Covishield and Covaxin vaccines.<\/p>\n

Bharat Biotech aims to conduct clinical trials on 5,000 subjects (50 per cent vaccinated with Covishield and 50 per cent vaccinated with Covaxin). This comes at a time when 243 new cases of highly transmissible Covid variant Omicron were detected in the last 24 hours, taking India’s Omicron tally to 2,135 cases. Of these, 828 people have recovered from the new strain so far.<\/p>\n
