{"id":16341,"date":"2022-01-07T09:35:18","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T04:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/?p=16341"},"modified":"2022-01-07T13:20:10","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T07:50:10","slug":"election-commission-enhances-the-election-expenditure-ceiling-for-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/election-commission-enhances-the-election-expenditure-ceiling-for-candidates\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Commission enhances the election expenditure ceiling for candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Delhi, Jan 07:\u00a0<\/strong>Ahead of assembly elections in five states, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that it has enhanced the election expenditure ceiling for candidates in assembly constituencies from the existing \u20b920 lakh to \u20b928 lakh, and from \u20b928 lakh to 40 lakh, in respective states and Union territories.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of parliamentary constituencies, the election expenditure limit has been raised from the current \u20b954 lakh to \u20b975 lakh, and \u20b970 lakh to \u20b995 lakh, the poll panel informed, adding that these new figures will be applicable in all the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n<p>In a press-related, the ECI noted that the last major revision in the expenditure limit was carried out in 2014, which was further increased by 10 per cent in 2020. <strong>\u201cSimultaneously, the ECI formed a committee to study the cost factors, and Cost Inflation Index 2014 substantially. For all states, except Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Sikkim, a candidate can spend up to \u20b970 lakh on canvassing. The cap for these three states is \u20b954 lakh. For Delhi, the ceiling is \u20b970 lakh and \u20b954 lakh for other Union territories.<\/p>\n<p>Assembly elections are due in five states: Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
