Imphal, Jan 10:\u00a0<\/strong>Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that \u201c<\/strong>I have to work hard to bring pro-India nationalism to the minds of all Manipuris who feel alien even today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manipur CM accepted that many works are still pending in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a lot of work pending in Manipur. I need to rebuild the state. For 30 years, people here were deprived of entertainment. The culture of Manipuris has come back with development and peace,\u201d<\/strong> CM said.<\/p>\n

Manipur in the northeast will go to the polls in two phases on February 27 and March 3.<\/p>\n

After the 2017 Assembly polls, a coalition of BJP, National People’s Party (NPP), Naga People’s Front, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) formed the government, which is presently led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.<\/p>\n

The tenure of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, which consists of 60 members, is scheduled to end on March 19, 2022.<\/p>\n

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday welcomed the announcement of dates for Assembly elections in five states and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will get an absolute majority in the upcoming polls.<\/p>\n

CM N Biren Singh’s popularity and ‘good performance’<\/strong> despite challenges in the last five years give BJP a major advantage in this year’s polls. Manipur CM, who joined BJP in 2016, has earned the reputation of being an accessible Chief Minister. In contrast to this, former Congress chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh is generally seen as an arrogant and inaccessible leader.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister’s outreach programmes ‘Go to Hills’<\/strong> and ‘Go to Village’<\/strong> have been widely accepted and appreciated by the people in this development-starved state. N Biren Singh also has an image of a ‘protector<\/strong>‘ of Meitei interests, which gives him a big advantage in the valleys. The Prime Minister’s concept of ‘Double Engine<\/strong>‘ is at its display in its best form in this state.<\/p>\n

Of course, this used to be the Congress advantage factor for decades, and now that pattern is definitely going to boost the BJP campaign. The decline in the long bandhs and blockades will also favour the BJP.<\/p>\n

In Chief Minister’s constituency Heingang, people also appreciate the move of BJP to appoint a woman state unit president in Sharda Devi. This is the first time a woman is heading a national party in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
