{"id":17291,"date":"2022-02-25T13:45:39","date_gmt":"2022-02-25T08:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/?p=17291"},"modified":"2022-02-25T14:02:50","modified_gmt":"2022-02-25T08:32:50","slug":"mizoram-cm-zoramthanga-presents-the-budget-for-fy23-proposes-no-new-taxes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/mizoram-cm-zoramthanga-presents-the-budget-for-fy23-proposes-no-new-taxes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mizoram: CM Zoramthanga presents the budget for FY23, proposes no new taxes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mizoram, Feb 25:<\/strong> Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga presented the state budget for 2022-23 with a total outlay of Rs 14,008 crore, and no proposal for levying new taxes or increasing existing rates on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CM also presented the supplementary demands for grants for 2021-22 fiscal, amounting to Rs 6,025.44 crore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who holds the finance portfolio as well, said the state is facing a major financial crisis due to the inadequate release of the share of taxes from the Centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the total outlay, 28.57 per cent has been earmarked for capital expenditure, while revenue expenditure accounts for 71.43 per cent of the estimate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CM also said that he aims to maintain a revenue surplus of Rs 1,419.69 crore, as the government will explore all potential avenues for increasing revenue income, with the constitution of the Mizoram Resource Mobilisation Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said the GSDP for 2022-23 is estimated to be Rs 39,458.50 crore, a growth rate of 16.76 per cent as against the current year\u2019s figure of Rs 33,793.15 crore.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Also Read<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/nda-govt-believes-northeast-is-a-growth-engine-for-india-says-pm-modi-in-manipur\/\">NDA govt believes northeast is a growth engine for India, says PM Modi in Manipur<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mizoram CM Zoramthanga set aside Rs 700 crore for the implementation of his government\u2019s flagship Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP) for the 2022-2023 fiscal, compared to Rs 400 crore in the previous budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, members of opposition Zoram People\u2019s Movement (ZPM) and the Congress staged a walkout from the assembly for the second consecutive day in protest against Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo presiding the session, amid allegations of illegal earnings from government contracts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Opposition members have been demanding that Sailo vacate the chair for the deputy speaker to preside over the proceedings of the session.
