Itanagar, April 19:\u00a0<\/strong>In a shocking incident, three members of a family were buried alive & washed away by a heavy landslide in Arunachal Pradesh\u2019s Kurung Kumey<\/a> <\/span>district near the China border.<\/p>\n

Heavy and incessant rains over the past few days is creating havoc and fear among the citizens of the state. Three members of the same family were buried alive in a landslide that occurred in Sulung Taping village of Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

As per the information given by the Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighee, the victims are identified as 50-year-old Sariu Tongdang, his wife Sariu Yajik (48), and their eight-year-old son Sariu Takar.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner said that two people were fortunately escaped unhurt, and a search operation is going on to trace the buried bodies.<\/p>\n

Heavy and incessant rain on the night of 17 April triggered landslides in different locations, especially in the district headquarters here, snapping surface communication and disrupting water and electricity supply.<\/p>\n

The district headquarters remains cut off from the rest of the state since Sunday night. The roads are blocked in several places between the old DC office and the mini-secretariat in Malapu.<\/p>\n

One of the relatives informed about the horrific incident that happened during the night when three of his family members including one small child out of five members washed away by landslides and buried alive.<\/p>\n

Bengia Tashi, a member of Zilla Parishad of Lower Koloriang informed that more than twenty houses got damaged due to landslides caused by the heavy downpours. Tashi woke up many families to remain alert during late-night hours when heavy rain started, which saved many lives.<\/p>\n

Tashi urged the department of disaster management to survey the damages and also appealed to provide relief and rehabilitation packages for the poor families who do not have homes to stay in now after damage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
