Guwahati, May 24:\u00a0<\/strong>Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited the flood-hit Dima Hasao district to take a stock of the situation firsthand.<\/p>\n

Sarma while visiting the relief camps and interacting with the inmates there, also held a discussion with the Dima Hasao district administration and reviewed the preliminary destruction caused due to landslides.<\/p>\n

He stressed on immediate resumption of full-scale transportation and laid emphasis on the restoration of damaged roads.<\/p>\n

He assured that both the Central and the state governments will help North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) with adequate funds to tide over the present crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the first wave of flood and destruction it caused to the hill district, we visited Haflong, district HQ of Dima Hasao, and inspected landslide areas, including a road at Sarkari Bagan area which got badly damaged by floods. Restoration work will start soon. We are working to mitigate the risk due to landslides,\u201d<\/strong> he said.<\/p>\n
