Amaravati, June 17: <\/strong>A man in Andhra Pradesh\u2019s Nellore district was arrested by the police for conducting a \u2018black magic ritual\u2019<\/strong> on his 3-year-old daughter, due to which the child died.<\/p>\n

According to the police, Venugopal, the father, conducted the rituals at his home in Perareddypally village, believing that it would drive away evil forces responsible for the losses in his business.<\/p>\n

As the per report said that Venugopal had poured turmeric water on his daughter as part of the ritual. Police are also investigating to see if the child\u2019s mouth was stuffed with kumkum (red turmeric powder), leading to her suffocation.<\/p>\n

According to the police, Venugopal had strangulated the child with his bare hands. After things went wrong, Venugopal\u2019s elder daughter ran out of the house, crying. This alerted the neighbors, who rescued the younger daughter and rushed her to the hospital.<\/h6>\n

Since the child\u2019s condition was serious, she was shifted to a hospital in Chennai, but she died on Thursday morning, June 16.<\/p>\n

According to Atmakur Police Station sub-inspector, Shivshanker, “Prima facie, there is no role of any godman in this incident. The father used to often tell his family that the \u2018Shani\u2019 (Saturn) is not good. Even on the day of the incident, he said the same line and then decided to do the puja to get rid of the \u2018Shani\u2019.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the death, a case was registered against the child\u2019s father, Venugopal, under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC<\/a><\/span>). Venugopal, who was in the business of selling bricks, suffered losses, which he believed were due to \u2018evil forces\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, he reportedly performed a \u2018black magic ritual\u2019<\/strong> on his 3-year-old daughter, which he believed would drive the \u2018evil forces\u2019<\/strong> away.
