Shillong, Jan 25: <\/strong>Unaccounted cash of over Rs 10 lakh has been recovered and seized in the election-bound Northeast state of Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

The unaccounted cash has been recovered from four people in the South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

This was confirmed by Meghalaya chief electoral officer FR Kharkongor.<\/p>\n

The cash seizure was made by flying squad officials in the South West Garo Hills<\/a><\/span> district of Meghalaya.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlying squads have seized Rs 10.35 lakh cash from the possession of four persons,\u201d<\/strong> the state CEO said.<\/p>\n

The seizure was made after the four people could not produce any valid document for carrying the cash.<\/p>\n

However, \u201cno one was arrested\u201d<\/strong> in connection with the seizure of the cash.<\/p>\n

The state CEO added that unaccounted cash of over Rs 20 lakh has been recovered in the state thus far.<\/p>\n

Notably, polling for the elections to the 60-member Meghalaya legislative assembly will be held in one phase on February 27. The counting of votes will be done on March 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
