Agartala, Feb 07:\u00a0<\/strong>For the Tripura assembly elections 2023, the state is set to introduce a ‘vote-from-home’ <\/strong>system enabling senior citizens and people with disability to exercise their Right to Vote while sitting at home.<\/p>\n

The Tripura Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said that senior citizens above the age of 80 will only be able to avail of the vote-from-home option from 8th February 2023.<\/p>\n

Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte said that the \u201cElection Commission of India has made special provision for the old age people and the person with disabilities \u2018To vote at their Home\u2019 so that they don\u2019t need to go the polling booth physically. We have given this option to our 36,000 old age people and 17,000 persons with disabilities. We got the response from about 6,500 \u2013 80 plus old age voters that they would like to vote at their home. Similarly, about 1,600 with disabilities want to cast vote at their home. From tomorrow about 8,000 people will be voting across the state. Our teams will be going to their house, and the team consisting of polling officers, micro observers, and 100 security and security personnel will be there. I request all the voters to maintain the secrecy of your cast vote.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
