Itanagar, March 23:\u00a0<\/strong>A new Catfish species has been discovered in the Northeast state of Arunachal Pradesh. It has been discovered by scientists of the zoological survey of India (ZSI).<\/p>\n

The new species has been named \u2018Exostoma Dhritiae\u2019 after Dhriti Banerjee. Dhriti Banerjee is the first woman director of the ZSI, a statement said.<\/p>\n

The new Catfish species has been named after Dhriti Banerjee as a mark of honour for her contributions to research on the fauna of the country.<\/p>\n

The new species was discovered in Siking stream \u2013 a tributary of the Siang<\/a> <\/span>River in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n

It is a small fish found in streams in these hills and locally called \u2018Ngorang\u2019 by local tribals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
