Guwahati, March 31:\u00a0<\/strong>The Madhya Pradesh government has repatriated IAS officer Prateek Hajela to his parent Assam-Meghalaya cadre after he served as the Principal Secretary and CEO of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis in the state for three years.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Hajela, appointed the National Register of Citizens (NRC<\/a><\/span>) coordinator by the Supreme Court, oversaw the mammoth task of finalizing and publishing the Assam NRC data. Due to the sensitive nature of the task, the Supreme Court directed the Centre and the Assam government to transfer Hajela to Madhya Pradesh for his safety.<\/p>\n

However, after loopholes were discovered in the NRC process, Hajela came under scrutiny. The NRC authority lodged an FIR with the CID against him, accusing him of committing irregularities during the NRC update. After being deported to MP, Hajela faced five FIRs in Assam, including one related to sedition charges. Moreover, he was removed from the Social Justice Department in MP a day before the repatriation notice.<\/p>\n

Hajela is a native of Madhya Pradesh and a 1995 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. While serving in Madhya Pradesh, he was the Principal Secretary and CEO of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis.
