Paris, April 03:\u00a0<\/strong>Marlene Schiappa, the Minister for the Social Economy and French Associations, is receiving criticism for appearing on the cover of the French edition of Playboy magazine. Schiappa, who is known for her advocacy for women’s rights and for introducing a law against street harassment, has been accused of making an inappropriate decision.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister \u00c9lisabeth Borne and French politician Jean Luc M\u00e9lenchon have both spoken out against Schiappa’s decision. However, other politicians, including French Interior Minister G\u00e9rald Darmanin, have defended her, stating that she is a “woman of character.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the backlash, Schiappa has defended her decision to pose for the magazine cover, stating that defending the rights of women to have control of their bodies is essential everywhere and all the time. Playboy has also supported the spread, with its editor stating that Schiappa is the most “Playboy<\/a> <\/span>compatible”<\/strong> of government ministers and that the magazine could be an instrument for the feminist cause.<\/p>\n
