Karimganj, April 22:\u00a0<\/strong>A\u00a0severe storm hit the Barak Valley region of Karimganj area in Assam, leading to extensive property damage and the unfortunate death of a child. Over 400 homes in the Karimganj area were affected by the storm, causing significant harm.<\/p>\n

The district administration reported one casualty, and several trees and power poles were uprooted as well.<\/p>\n

The Pathardandi revenue circle\u2019s officer, Arpita Dutta Mazumder, stated that this severe storm had an impact on more than 428 families spread across five village panchayats. Numerous homes sustained total damage, while the roofs of many more were blown off.<\/p>\n

\u201cA 7-year-old child died in the storm. As per the initial report, as many as 14 houses were severely damaged. Our assessment is going on. The affected families will be compensated as per the government norms,\u201d<\/strong> Arpita Dutta Mazumder noted.<\/p>\n

The youngster died when the storm-damaged house he was within, fell, killing him. Before this tragedy, a violent storm on Tuesday night damaged various areas in Nalbari. In addition to harming locals; property, the storm also destroyed the region’s stage for a current Bihu celebration.<\/p>\n
