Imphal, April 24:\u00a0<\/strong>A fourth MLA of the ruling party in Manipur resigned on Monday from their administrative post, marking another BJP legislator to do so this month in the northeastern state.<\/p>\n

Khwairakpam Raghumani, the BJP MLA from Uripok, has stepped down as the chairman of the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

With this resignation from additional responsibilities imposed by CM Biren Singh, Raghumani Singh becomes the fourth lawmaker from the BJP camp in Manipur.<\/p>\n

The Manipur Development Society’s chairman, MLA P Brojen Singh, had already resigned on April 20.<\/p>\n

In his letter of resignation, Brojen\u2014a former elected MLA from the Thoubal districts Wangjing Tentha Assembly constituency\u2014cited “personal grounds.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI tender my resignation from the post of chairman Manipur Development Society (MDS) Imphal due to some personal grounds\u201d,<\/strong> in his letter of resignation, Brojen mentioned.<\/p>\n

When Brojen announced his resignation, a few elected MLAs, mostly from the Kuki community were already camped out in New Delhi, asking the Centre leadership for help. They were upset with the state’s current leadership for allegedly lacking transparency and failing to keep their promises.<\/p>\n

According to Thokchom Radheshyam, who recently quit his job as Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s advisor, Manipur, has been run in a totalitarian manner, which has displeased many MPs. Either the chief minister or the state party leadership wants to change.<\/p>\n

“If we want transparency, whatever we do, whatever we speak, what we think in our mind and soul should be same and act upon,”<\/strong> he wrote on the social networking website.<\/p>\n

Another BJP politician, Karam Shyam, resigned on April 17 from his position as Chairman of the Tourism Corporation and claimed in a social media post that the state government’s senior leadership does not treat their subordinates fairly and that it is unacceptable for a leader to threaten subordinates.<\/p>\n

Shyam added that the CM had promised to create a historical place in his district but afterward turned down his plea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
