Guwahati, April 29:\u00a0<\/strong>The Congress party is gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections in Assam, and recently, a series of meetings were held to discuss the party’s preparations. AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh announced that marathon meetings were held for two consecutive days to discuss the Congress’ plans for the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

In addition, Singh also held a meeting with “like-minded opposition parties”<\/strong> on the first day of his visit to the state.<\/p>\n

According to Singh, the visit to Assam was primarily focused on organizational matters, and the party discussed ground situations with new district, block, and booth presidents.<\/p>\n

The meetings were attended by MLAs, MPs, local leaders, and district presidents, and lasted for eight hours each day. The discussions were centered around preparations for panchayat and Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n

On the first day of meetings, the Congress party discussed preparations for the five Lok Sabha seats in Assam, while on the second day, discussions were held for six parliamentary constituencies.<\/p>\n

Singh stated that the remaining three seats, where the party already has MPs, would be taken up during his next visit.<\/p>\n

The Congress party is looking to improve its performance in Assam after facing defeat in the state assembly elections<\/a> <\/span>in 2021.<\/p>\n

The party has been facing challenges in the state, including a lack of unity and a failure to connect with the people. The meetings were held to address these issues and strengthen the party’s organization in the state.<\/p>\n

In addition to the discussions on party preparations, Singh also held a meeting with opposition parties on Thursday. However, he did not disclose the details of the meeting.<\/p>\n
