Kohima, May 04: <\/strong>A high-level committee has been established in Nagaland to restructure and reorganize the state police, according to Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton.<\/p>\n

The committee, headed by the Director General of Police (DGP), will assess all aspects of policing and make recommendations based on the findings. Patton stated that modern policing is more about establishing the rule of law through investigation and enforcement, rather than brute force.<\/p>\n

The goal is to create a more efficient police force focused on community safety and development. The public is invited to submit workable and genuine suggestions to improve law and order in the state.<\/p>\n

The DGP and Nagaland Police launched a “war on drugs”<\/strong> in the past four months, resulting in 101 cases being registered and 143 criminals being arrested for drug-related offenses. An Anti-Narcotics Task Force booth has been established at the state level with statewide jurisdiction to deal with this issue.<\/p>\n

The police department is also examining internal departmental problems such as the unauthorized absence of police personnel from duty, excessive deployment of bodyguards to state VIPs, and timely withdrawal of vehicles attached to retired officers.<\/p>\n

The restructuring and reorganisation of the Nagaland state police are expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement. The committee will investigate all aspects of policing to ensure that the department is aligned with the modern outlook of policing, with a focus on community safety and development.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to participate in this initiative by submitting genuine suggestions to improve law and order in the state. The Nagaland Police’s war on drugs is a positive step toward reducing drug-related crimes in the state, and the establishment of an Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF<\/a><\/span>) booth is a further indication of the department’s commitment to tackling this issue.<\/p>\n
