Kolkata, May 08:\u00a0<\/strong>According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Mocha is expected to make landfall in West Bengal and Odisha this week. The cyclonic circulation is currently present over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Andaman Sea, which is likely to lead to the formation of a low-pressure area on May 8.<\/p>\n

Further details on the path and intensification of the cyclone will be provided after the formation of the low-pressure area.<\/p>\n

The IMD has also stated that the low-pressure area is expected to intensify into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the South Andaman Sea on May 9.<\/p>\n

As the depression progresses, it is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm and move almost northwards towards the Central Bay of Bengal. The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea during this period and for residents of the coastal areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.<\/p>\n

It is essential to note that Cyclone Mocha is arriving amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which can cause significant challenges in managing evacuation and relief operations. The authorities have assured that necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the affected areas.<\/p>\n
