Morigaon, May 09:\u00a0<\/strong>A woman in Assam’s Morigaon district cut off a man’s genitals in self-defense when he allegedly attempted to rape her on Monday. The accused has been identified as Osman Ali, a resident of the Darrang district who had come to the village to assist a childless couple.<\/p>\n

According to sources, Ali entered the woman’s home and tried to rape her, prompting her to grab a sharp object and cut off his genitals.<\/p>\n

The accused was rushed to the Morigaon civil hospital in critical condition and later referred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for better treatment. The woman\u2019s act of self-defense has once again highlighted the issue of sexual assault and the need for self-defense training for women.<\/p>\n

In a similar incident in Nagaon<\/a><\/span>‘s Batadrava area on March 2, a woman cut off a man’s genitals in self-defense when he allegedly attempted to rape her. The accused lived next door to the woman and entered her home at night to commit the crime.<\/p>\n

The woman cut off the man’s genitals with a sharp object hidden under her bed and then filed an FIR against him at the Batadrava Police Station, while the accused was admitted to the Nagaon Civil Hospital.<\/p>\n

Moreover, strict laws and their proper implementation are also necessary to curb sexual assault and rape cases. The government needs to take more effective steps to ensure the safety of women and to make sure that perpetrators of such crimes are given stringent punishment. Along with that, society needs to change its mindset toward women and treat them with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n

The incident in the Morigaon district highlights the need for women to be equipped with self-defense training and for society to be more mindful of women’s safety. The government must take more steps to ensure the safety of women, and society must treat women with respect and dignity.
