Shillong, May 10:\u00a0<\/strong>Polling is underway for four assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Meghalaya, and Punjab. In Uttar Pradesh, the election is expected to be a contest between the Samajwadi Party and BJP’s ally Apna Dal.<\/p>\n

Voters in the assembly seats of Suar and Chhanbey in Uttar Pradesh, Jharsuguda in Odisha, and Sohiong in Meghalaya have already begun casting their votes.<\/p>\n

In Punjab, the Lok Sabha seat in Jalandhar fell vacant following the sudden death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary in January of this year. Chaudhary had suffered a cardiac arrest during the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jalandhar’s Phillaur<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The by-election in the constituency is expected to be a closely contested affair, with multiple political parties vying for the seat.<\/p>\n
