Guwahati, May 15:\u00a0<\/strong>Cyclone Mocha has been making its way through parts of northeast India, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to the region. As of Sunday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue until Monday, with Mizoram and south Manipur expected to receive the most rainfall in the northeast.<\/p>\n

According to IMD officials, Kohima has received 22.6 mm of rainfall, Aizawl has received 4.8 mm, and Silchar has received 2 mm as of 5.30 pm on Sunday. While these amounts may seem small, they are likely to increase as the cyclone progresses through the region.<\/p>\n

The IMD has also issued warnings of squally wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph over Mizoram, with the potential to intensify to 45-55 kmph and gusting to 65 kmph until Monday morning. In Manipur<\/a><\/span>, squally wind speeds reaching 45-55 kmph and gusting to 65 kmph are also expected until Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Despite the cyclone weakening into a very severe cyclonic storm over Myanmar, it is still causing heavy rainfall and strong winds in northeast India. As such, residents in the affected areas should take precautions to stay safe during this time.<\/p>\n
