Guwahati, May 27:\u00a0<\/strong>Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass announced that over 18 lakh houses have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) in Assam.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati<\/a><\/span>, Minister Dass revealed that more than 11 lakh houses have already been constructed, with the remaining targeted for completion by August 15 this year.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the progress of the PMAY-G in Assam, Minister Dass stated that the state has sanctioned 18,30,400 PMAY-G houses since the program’s inception. Out of these, 11,63,417 houses have been completed, with 7,59,163 houses constructed in the last two years. The government aims to provide housing for all eligible beneficiaries as per the program’s objectives.<\/p>\n

The implementation of PMAY-G in Assam has seen a significant expenditure of Rs 12,504.79 crore since the fiscal year 2022-23. Furthermore, the state government has allocated land to 40,096 landless PMAY-G beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

To facilitate the construction of houses for these beneficiaries, the government has initiated the development of cluster housing. The state has completed seven clusters, covering 99 beneficiaries, while work is ongoing in 19 clusters, benefiting 838 beneficiaries across ten districts.<\/p>\n

In addition to these efforts, Assam has formulated a standard operating procedure for PMAY-G housing in tea garden areas, benefitting 81,638 beneficiaries. The state government plans to organize a mass ‘griha pravesh’ ceremony for more than 2.5 lakh completed houses, marking a significant milestone in the PMAY-G program.<\/p>\n

To meet the demand for skilled manpower, over 3,400 masons have been trained locally for the construction of PMAY-G houses in Assam. Additionally, a regional conference involving nine eastern region states is scheduled to take place in Assam on June 2-3.<\/p>\n

The conference aims to monitor the implementation process of the PMAY-G scheme and promote the sharing of best practices among the participating states.<\/p>\n
