However, the department assures that the overall monsoon season will be normal across the country.<\/p>\n<p>D Sivananda Pai, the Chief of IMD&#8217;s Environment Monitoring and Research Center (<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/mausam.imd.gov.in\/imd_latest\/contents\/pdf\/pubbrochures\/Environment%20Monitoring%20and%20Research%20Centre.pdf\">EMRC<\/a><\/span>), stated that except for certain regions in south peninsular India, northwest India, extreme north India, and a few isolated pockets in northeast India, that is, most parts of the country can expect below normal rainfall in June. Conversely, these aforementioned areas are likely to experience above-normal rainfall thereafter.<\/p>\n<p>Despite concerns over the onset of El Nino, which occurs due to the warming of the equatorial Pacific Ocean, Pai assured the public that the southwest monsoon season is expected to be normal this year. This translates to a range of 94 to 106 percent of the long-period average, bringing a sense of relief to farmers and agricultural communities.<\/p>\n<p>The IMD&#8217;s forecast holds importance for various sectors of the economy, particularly agriculture.
