Aizawl, June 07:\u00a0<\/strong>The Mizoram government has announced measures to provide assistance to the 9,501 displaced tribals from Manipur who have sought refuge in Mizoram. As part of their efforts, the government aims to profile these individuals and prioritize enrolling their children in government schools.<\/p>\n

Following a month-long period of ethnic strife, these displaced individuals have sought shelter across various locations in Mizoram, including community halls, churches, government buildings, and with relatives.<\/p>\n

Tragically, three individuals have lost their lives in the Mizoram camps, and an additional two were killed in a road accident near Saitual town while attempting to escape their homes in Churachandpur, Manipur.<\/p>\n

The distribution of displaced people in Mizoram is as follows: Kolasib district houses 3,481 individuals, Aizawl accommodates 3,157, and Saitual provides shelter to 2,390. Furthermore, Champhai, Khawzawl, Serchhip, Mamit, Lunglei, Hnahthial, and Siaha have collectively taken in approximately 473 displaced people.<\/p>\n

To address the situation effectively, the Mizoram government has established a high-level committee led by Home Minister Lalchamliana, specifically focused on the internally displaced persons from Manipur.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that in addition to supporting the displaced tribals from Manipur, Mizoram is also providing refuge to over 40,000 Myanmar refugees who have fled their country due to fears of persecution by the military junta. Among these refugees, 772 individuals are from Bangladesh<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Mizoram government’s commitment to profiling and assisting the displaced tribals from Manipur showcases their dedication to providing essential support during this challenging time. By prioritizing the enrollment of children in government schools, they are ensuring that education remains accessible to those affected by ethnic strife.<\/p>\n
