Imphal, June 09:\u00a0<\/strong>The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated an investigation into the recent violence in Manipur by registering six First Information Reports (FIRs) and establishing a Special Investigation Team (SIT).<\/p>\n

The SIT<\/a><\/span>, led by a DIG-rank officer and comprising 10 officers, will be responsible for probing the cases related to the ethnic violence that resulted in the loss of nearly 100 lives.<\/p>\n

After Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur, during which he announced a CBI probe into the violence, the CBI has taken over the cases and formed the SIT based on the state government’s request.<\/p>\n

The investigation will focus on alleged criminal conspiracies and general conspiracies associated with the violence.<\/p>\n

Shah’s visit aimed to assess the security situation in Manipur and facilitate reconciliation between the conflicting communities.<\/p>\n

In Churachandpur, one of the severely affected districts, he held closed-door meetings with civil society organizations, tribal representatives, and intellectuals.<\/p>\n

As part of his assurances, Shah ensured an independent investigation by the CBI and provided other support measures such as rehabilitation for the affected relief material, and the establishment of helpline numbers in key locations.<\/p>\n

The death toll currently stands at 98, with 310 reported injuries. Cases of arson have reached 4,014, and the recovery of stolen arms includes rifles and grenade launchers. The CMO reported a total of 3,734 FIRs registered, with Imphal West district having the highest number, followed by Kangpokpi and Bishnupur<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The CBI’s involvement through the newly formed SIT will play a crucial role in unraveling the truth behind the violence and bringing the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
