Guwahati, June 12:\u00a0<\/strong>The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has issued a special bulletin today, predicting heavy rainfall in Assam over the next five days.<\/p>\n

The bulletin also highlights the favorable conditions for the advancement of the Southwest Monsoon in the northeastern states, as well as parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim<\/a> <\/span>within the next 48 hours.<\/p>\n

The RMC report indicates the presence of a trough in the westerlies, extending along Latitude 90\u00b0E to the north of 20\u00b0N at an altitude ranging from 3.1 to 5.8 km above mean sea level.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is observed over southeast Uttar Pradesh and its surrounding regions at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level. A trough is also observed extending from this cyclonic circulation to the north interior of Odisha at the same altitude.<\/p>\n

The bulletin further states that moist air is expected to move into northeast India from the Bay of Bengal, driven by strong low-level southerly or southwesterly winds. As a result, widespread rainfall activity, accompanied by heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning, is highly likely to occur across Assam in the coming five days.<\/p>\n

The RMC’s warning serves as an important reminder for residents and authorities in Assam to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Heavy rainfall can lead to waterlogging, flash floods, and disruption of normal life, including transport and communication systems. It is advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and heed any instructions or advisories issued by local authorities.<\/p>\n
