Imphal, July 03:\u00a0<\/strong>India’s Defence Secretary, Giridhar Aramane, recently undertook a two-day visit to Myanmar to address border issues and maintain the sanctity of India’s border amidst the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss security matters with Myanmar’s senior leadership.<\/p>\n

With a 1,700-kilometer-long border shared between India and Myanmar, the majority of which passes through forests, the unrest in Manipur has been attributed to insurgents crossing over from Myanmar into India. During the visit, the need for maintaining peace and preventing illegal activities such as drug trafficking and smuggling was emphasized.<\/p>\n

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to ensure that their respective territories would not be utilized for any activities detrimental to the other. India stressed the importance of Myanmar’s well-being, as any developments in Myanmar directly impact India’s border regions. Peace, stability, and the welfare of the Myanmar people are therefore of utmost significance to India.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the Defence Secretary held meetings with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Myanmar’s Defence Minister Gen Mya Tun Oo (retd), Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Navy<\/a><\/span>, and Lt Gen Khan Myint Than, Chief of Defence Industries.<\/p>\n

The discussions aimed to address border security concerns, foster bilateral cooperation, and ensure mutual understanding between the two nations.
