Guwahati, Aug 26:\u00a0<\/strong>Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, to analyze the Gauhati High Court’s recent verdict regarding the 2004 Dhemaji bomb blast case.<\/p>\n

CM Sarma stated that if they receive legal counsel in favor of an appeal, they will approach the Supreme Court. The decision by the high court, which acquitted the accused of all charges in the 2004 Dhemaji bomb blast incident, has raised concerns.<\/p>\n

The Gauhati High Court’s ruling on August 24 resulted in the acquittal of the accused, who had previously contested the lower court’s decision. The incident, which occurred on August 15, 2004, involved a bomb explosion in Assam’s Dhemaji district, tragically claiming the lives of 18 children on Independence Day.<\/p>\n

The case went through its final hearing on July 24, with the verdict delivered on August 24. The lower court had previously sentenced Dipanjali Burhagohain, Muhi Handique, Jatin Dubori, and Leela Gogoi to life imprisonment. Additionally, two individuals, Prashanta Bhuyan and Hemen Gogoi, were handed four-year prison terms.<\/p>\n
