Barpeta, Sept 22: <\/strong>In a shocking case, a patient at Barpeta Cancer Hospital demanded a significant sum of money, even though they possessed an Ayushman health card provided by the government.<\/p>\n

Refusing to succumb to the unethical demands of the doctors and the alleged involvement of middlemen (brokers), the patient’s family filed a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of a broker identified as Amarjyoti Mudiar.<\/p>\n

Hemanta Medhi, the patient’s son, recounted the entire incident while speaking to the media. He explained how a doctor named Dr. Kiran demanded money after successfully performing a surgery.<\/p>\n

Medhi stated, “We were not informed in advance about any costs that we would need to bear before the operation. We had already registered through the Ayushman card, and it had been approved, so we were confident that the surgery would be free.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“However, the doctor later demanded a significant sum that we were not capable of paying. The middleman continued to threaten us. Consequently, we paid a small sum,”<\/strong> he added.<\/p>\n

Although the broker continued to threaten the patient’s family, he eventually agreed to accept the amount they could afford to pay. A date and location were then arranged for the payment.<\/p>\n

However, the victim’s family had already informed the police<\/a><\/span> about the entire incident. Therefore, when the transaction took place, plainclothes police personnel apprehended the broker red-handed and took him to the police station.<\/p>\n
