Imphal, Oct 18:\u00a0<\/strong>Security forces in Manipur have conducted extensive search operations over the last 24 hours, resulting in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and explosives in various districts, as well as the apprehension of individuals engaged in illegal activities.<\/p>\n

In the Imphal-East district, the authorities seized eight arms, including an Assault Rifle, .303, SMG Carbine, Sten Gun, and two 9mm Pistols, along with 62 rounds of ammunition, 18 explosives, one locally-made bomb launcher (Pompi), two wireless sets (KENWOOD), two tube launchers, one Smoke Grenade<\/a><\/span>, and five BP Jackets.<\/p>\n

Search operations were expanded to several districts, including Imphal-East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Thoubal, and Imphal West. In Churachandpur’s Old Dampi village, security forces recovered two arms, including a 9mm Pistol with a magazine and a locally-made single-barrel shotgun, in addition to heavy caliber machine gun rounds, a heavy mortar, a country-made improvised bomb, and a Rocket-Propelled Grenade.<\/p>\n

In Bishnupur, an individual abducted by unknown miscreants from Ithai was successfully rescued by District Police Bishnupur, along with the recovery of an SLR Rifle, ten ammunitions, a Tear Gas Gun, seven munition shells, and two smartphones believed to be used by the miscreants.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Lamtinsei Singson, also known as Seipu, the Commander in Chief of UTLA\/KNO (Seipu group), was apprehended by security forces on October 15. In his vehicle, ten soap cases containing brown sugar, weighing approximately 124 grams in total, were discovered.<\/p>\n

These joint operations conducted by state and central security forces involved the search of more than 600 houses and the verification of over 1400 individuals. Although no arrests were made during these operations, they have helped ensure the movement of vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2, with strict security measures in vulnerable areas.<\/p>\n

Moreover, a total of 132 checkpoints and Nakas have been established in response to recent incidents, leading to the detention of 2240 individuals in connection with violations across the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
