Kohima, Oct 20:\u00a0<\/strong>Kohima-based Vision Trinity Club (VTC) has kicked off a three-day women’s basketball tournament at Loyola Higher Secondary School in Jakhama, Nagaland. This marks the fifth edition of the women’s basketball tournament, with the theme “Start unknown, finish unforgettable.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event features seven teams, including Touchline Basketball Academy (TBA) from Shillong, All Blacks, TMB, Loyola, Aces, Orca, and Japfu Christian College (JCC<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Sashila Ozukum, the proprietor and principal of Hope Academy, graced the tournament’s opening and lauded the event’s promotion of women’s empowerment and hygiene through sports. She highlighted how sports nurture qualities like confidence, discipline, and leadership.<\/p>\n

Such tournaments provide women with opportunities to showcase their athletic talents and represent a commitment to women’s sports development. Ozukum expressed her hope that the tournament would serve as a stepping stone for female athletes to reach regional and national levels.<\/p>\n

The Speaker of Vision Trinity Club, Tshekulhi Thopi, shared that the tournament began in 2018 with the primary goal of promoting women’s empowerment through sports. Nunese Sale, President of Vision Trinity Club, encouraged players to demonstrate their love for the sport and their skills as they create new memories. He noted that the tournament has grown to become one of the most significant women’s sports events in Nagaland.<\/p>\n

The winning team in the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 30,000, along with a newly introduced running trophy. Meanwhile, the runner-up will be awarded Rs 15,000 for their achievements. The tournament emphasizes the significance of women’s participation in sports and provides a platform for showcasing their talents and enhancing their skills in basketball.
