Aizawl, Oct 20:\u00a0<\/strong>Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has taken a significant step in his political journey by filing his nomination papers for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for November 7.<\/p>\n

Zoramthanga, who is also the president of the Mizo National Front (MNF), submitted his nomination papers from the Aizawl<\/a> <\/span>East constituency. This marks a crucial moment in the 79-year-old Mizo leader’s political career, as he seeks a fourth term as Chief Minister, aiming to become the longest-serving CM in Mizoram’s history.<\/p>\n

In the 2018 elections, the MNF secured 27 seats and 38.4% of the votes, catapulting Zoramthanga into the Chief Minister’s role for the third time.<\/p>\n

This return to the top job occurred after a decade-long hiatus since his previous tenure. Zoramthanga had previously led two consecutive MNF governments from 1998 to 2008, followed by two terms of Congress-led governments under Lal Thanhawla’s leadership.<\/p>\n
