{"id":3172,"date":"2020-07-14T14:42:30","date_gmt":"2020-07-14T09:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nerising.in\/?p=3172"},"modified":"2020-07-14T14:42:30","modified_gmt":"2020-07-14T09:12:30","slug":"bjp-protests-across-north-bengal-over-mla-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northeastrising.in\/test\/bjp-protests-across-north-bengal-over-mla-death\/","title":{"rendered":"BJP protests across North Bengal over MLA death"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 dir=\"auto\">BJP protests across North Bengal over MLA death<\/h1>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The BJP leadership have staged protests across six districts of North Bengal including Darjeeling, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/teesta-flowing-above-danger-level-flood-in-sikkim-and-west-bengal\/\">Jalpaiguri<\/a><\/span>, Coochbehar, Dinajpur, Malda, and Siliguri over the death of a BJP MLA on July 13th.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Although the BJP leadership called for a 12-hour silent protest on Monday, early on Tuesday morning the protests aggravated into violence affecting North Bengal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><strong>Whereas in some places public vehicles are not plying, in some other shops and markets are closed, buses are attacked and ransacked.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Although BJP has alleged that 60-year-old Debendranath Roy has been killed, the police have confirmed that death has been by suicide and a suicide note has been found in his pocket with 2 names written on it.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-3172-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"313\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/north-bengal-protest.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/nerising.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/north-bengal-protest.mp4\">https:\/\/nerising.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/north-bengal-protest.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The police is investigating the case. The body of the man was found hanging from his shop in Hematabad, 1 km away from his residence in North Dinajpur district.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><strong>Last year he had joined the BJP from CPI(M). His death has created extreme political fight across Bengal<\/strong>.
